On Sunday (June 23, 2024), the first official day of General Convention, we began with Holy Eucharist led by the Bishop of Kentucky (the Right Reverend Terry Allen White). After passing many resolutions about rules of order, we also passed a resolution that calls for the protection of the water of O’ahu that continues to be threatened by the storage and removal of jet fuel, and to advocate for indigenous and native people’s rights to safety and restoration. We also passed a resolution urging Congress to recognize and define gun violence as a public health epidemic and national health crisis, and to enact legislation that promotes the rights of all Americans to live in safe environments free from gun violence.
